South Leicestershire Conservatives have chosen a new parliamentary candidate to contest the 2015 General Election. Alberto Costa will replace sitting MP Andrew Robathan following a vote by local party members in Lutterworth on Saturday.
I am passionate about our villages and want to ensure that rural South Leicestershire remains a wonderful place to live. My local priorities already include making our roads safer and quieter, helping communities oppose unsustainable over-development, better policing for our rural areas, faster
Boosting our healthy Leicestershire economy still further by promoting our local shops, post offices and public houses in our villages and towns as community assets and partnering with businesses to offer more apprenticeships to younger people.
As a Conservative MP I do of course always support the creation of further employment and investment in both the local and national economy, however it is important that this development comes in a sustainable manner; not at the expense of our local environment and local infrastructure.
On Friday 10th March, South Leicestershire MP, Alberto Costa, visited Blaby District Council’s newly opened ‘state of the art’ £6 million refuse depot based in Whetstone.
I am firmly committed to working with Leicestershire County Council to deliver fairer funding for Leicestershire.
Leicestershire has, for a number of years, had a low level of spend relative to other local authorities, which has created pressures on spending and budgetary savings.
I am immensely proud that South Leicestershire is a home to a wonderful array of small, independent businesses and SMEs as well as other larger organisations such as Next, Everards and Britvic.
