Alberto has called an emergency public meeting for residents of Lutterworth and the surrounding villages in the Bruntingthorpe Electoral Division to discuss a series of highly controversial large-scale proposals that could dramatically alter Lutterworth and its surrounding villages.
The meeting, set to take place at Lutterworth College on Thursday 15th August 2025 at 6:30pm, is open to all residents concerned about the cumulative impact of the proposed large-scale developments in the area.
The ticketed meeting can be attended by residents applying through Mr Costa’s Office.
The main proposals that Alberto will highlight at the public meeting are:
- A proposed large sand and gravel quarry by Tarmac near Misterton, opposite the planned Lutterworth East housing site. This is not permitted under the County Council’s current Minerals Plan.
- Expanding strategic warehousing to the east of Lutterworth and near Gibbet Hill Roundabout, including plans for 58,000m² of new warehousing on a former quarry site near Shawell.
- A sharp cut in affordable housing, with a proposal to reduce the minimum requirement from 40% to just 10%, potentially denying hundreds of local families the chance to access affordable homes.
- A massive battery storage facility and substation, proposed between Junction 20 and South Kilworth, with insufficient scrutiny of potential health, safety, and noise impacts.
Local councillors from Harborough District Council and Leicestershire County Council have been invited to attend to listen to the local residents.
Alberto said:“Lutterworth already has Magna Park one of Europe’s largest logistics parks. These new huge proposals raise serious questions about overdevelopment, fairness, and whether proper planning safeguards are being respected. I want to ensure that local people have a say in the future of their communities and that coucal council leaders listen to the views of my constituents.”
Alberto added: “These developments are massive in scale, and just one of them getting the green light will have far reaching consequences for the villages across South Leicestershire as well as Lutterworth.”
