Alberto raised the issue of the lack of funding into Brain Tumour Research.
Alberto spoke at Prime Ministers Questions on the need for more research to be carried out into Brain Tumours.
Alberto shared the heartbreaking story of Laura, whom he met at a constituency surgery last week. She spoke about the devastating loss of her six-year-old son, Taylan, to medulloblastoma - an aggressive brain tumour known as "The Terminator" due to its 0% survival rate.
Speaking after Prime Minister’s Questions, Mr Costa said:
"Today at PMQs, I raised the case of Taylan, who tragically lost his life to a brain tumour at just six years old. I have requested a meeting with the relevant Minister to push for greater action in preventing more young lives from being lost to this devastating disease."
Over the years the statistics show that Brain Tumours kill more people under the age of 40 each year and continues to rise. Additionally, more children lose their life to Brain Tumours than to Leukaemia.
Mrs Kurtul (Laura) said "Knowing that Alberto Costa MP raised this issue with the Prime Minister after our conversation at a recent constituency surgery about my son Taylan’s tragic passing from a brain tumour, and that he is calling for a meeting on this, means a lot me and my fellow Angel Mums."
Mr Costa said: "I was deeply moved by Laura’s story. She has experienced every parent’s worst nightmare—the loss of a child to a disease with no chance of survival. We must do more to improve early diagnosis, treatment options, and ultimately find a cure. I will continue pushing for greater investment in research to give hope to families facing this devastating disease."
