Under the Government's plans, communities including Blaby, Enderby, Narborough, Whetstone, Countesthorpe, Cosby, Huncote, Thorpe Astley, Glen Parva, New Lubbesthorpe and many other South Leicestershire villages will become part of an expanded Leicester City authority.
Residents will know that I campaigned throughout this process for the North, City, South proposal because it would have delivered local government reform without requiring South Leicestershire communities to become part of an expanded city authority.
I have launched a petition calling on the Government to reconsider these proposals. Every signature sends a clear message that South Leicestershire residents do not want boundaries to be redrawn against their wishes.
I will present the petition in the House of Commons when Parliament returns in September, ensuring local concerns are placed directly before the Government.
If you believe our towns and villages should retain their identity and strong local representation please sign below.
